Flash 8 Video and a look at the P2
Those of you who missed the MCA-I / MMUG meeting last week, missed a cool presetntation of Flash-8's new video capabilitites. Much of them are owed to the new compression codec incorporated - The On2 VP6 Codec

This P2 tapeless aquisition system is really amazing. But for 7 dollars a second I don't even see how they can sell enough of these to start bringing the prices down. They're going to be wonderful to use once the price does come down though.
I guess the sales argument is that they can be re-used much more than tape. You only need 2 memory cards. Shoot with one while you transfer the other to your harddrive on your laptop. Sounds a little cumbersome to do during a shoot, but yes, everyone is expecting the price to come down. Everyone knows that tape is going away and Panasonic just wants to be first out of the gate.
