Wow, right of the bat, I found something of interest to me. I never knew what “Podcasting” was until I read this blog. If you don’t, then I would suggest reading about it. It’s pretty interesting just how close we are to such cool technology. There are great opportunities with the ability to podcast something of your creation. Even if it’s just for fun, but then again, it could be utilized to make some money as well.

Then I listened to podcast AVTektalk #5 which is an interview on the differences between duplication and replication of digital disc media. They talk about duplication being the use of recordable media such as a CD-R or DVD-R to burn files usually in batches and then checked and verified. This process is faster than replication. Then they go on to say that replication is the process of taking content, which could be the same as that used in duplication, and then glass mastering the content. Glass mastering is the process of putting the content onto a master disc, which will act as a stamp. You can then replicate many discs from the master disc. This process is best for making a lot of the same product over a period of time like the movies and music that is sold from a store.

The idea of downloading podcasts and then listening to them at my own time is of great interest for me. I enjoy learning on my own pace about stuff that directly relates to things going on in my life right now.
