Devils Day 19

Tuesday, July 26th, 2005.

Less than a week remains! How time flies. Winds and waves kept boaters away. Cleaned and picked blueberries and started on some school work. Diane swept tower. I bushwhacked outside perimeter of grounds looking for "dump", but found only scattered cans, pipes an old wood stove and some mechanical device (cast iron remains). At 6pm we started walking east shore to see how far we could get. Seemed we did 50% on rocks and 50% in woods before giving up ΒΌ mile from boathouse and bush whacked west to reach the trail to catch the sunset. The Canada Yew was thick and about 6 feet deep so it was very difficult traveling. Then we met campers at dusk on the trail. Old hands from Maple, WI came, who had toured Lighthouse before.
