Devils Day 14

Thursday July 21st, 2005

Picked still more blueberries.  Had blueberry pancakes for lunch.  Diane and Margot walked to S. Landing while I did tours.  Visited with 3 kayakers the whole time they were gone, discussing geology, botany and history.  One of the guys was actually paddling a “canoe”.  It looked like the shape and size of a canoe but designed like a kayak, covered with rudder, cockpit and paddled with a canoe-like paddle.  For Margot’s last full day she and I kayaked around the island.  It took us just under 2 hours, from around 6 to 8 pm.  A big feat for her, a novice paddler.  Watched moonrise over Cat Island and then caught the remains of a full-sky sunset from the tower.

PS, I didn't take any photos today. I'll just have to keep that sunset in my memory.
